After Kamal Haasan's "Thevar Magan", remade in Hindi as
"Virasat" with Anil Kapoor as the hero, shooting has begun for what
will be the biggest Bollywood remake of a Tamil hit film.
Shooting and recording are under way for the ambitious remake of
the South Indian blockbuster "Gajini", with none less than the
pioneering Aamir Khan in the lead role.
Aamir's role was originally played by Tamil matinee idol Suriya,
which took him some notches higher in stardom.
Actress Asin, who has been cast opposite Aamir in the film, has
said that she intends to concentrate only on this project in 2007.
She has reportedly told producers bringing new offers that they
will have to wait till the release of the remake, scheduled for
probably April next year.
Asin, as the industry buzz go, has her plate full with offers. She
has not only bagged the remake of the Telugu and Tamil hit
"Pokkiri" being directed by Prabhu Deva but also has "Delhi 6"
being directed by Rakeysh Mehra under her belt.
Aamir, who was here last week for a sound-recoring session for the
film, is said to have contacted Suriya asking him for his opinion
on whether he really fitted the role.
The Tamil hero is being reported to have assured Aamir that no one
else could fit the role better than the "Rang De Basanti" star.
The title of the remake is still to be finalised.
