After
an autobiographical take on his adolescence in "Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar"
(MP3), director Robby Grewal wants to cast Amitabh Bachchan as Lord
Krishna in a contemporary film.
"It
isn't Lord Krishna in his mythical avatar but a modern coach of a
basketball team who plays chess-like games with a group of youngsters
and manipulates their lives into shapes that were never meant to be,"
Grewal told IANS.
"Only Mr. Bachchan can play a god
convincingly. I've already approached him. And if things go well, the
film will soon be on," the director added.
Like his "MP3", the film, tentatively entitled "Isht", will also feature young faces apart from the Big B.
Grewal started his career with the gritty Sushmita Sen thriller "Samay" four years ago.
"I
agree 'MP3' is a long way off from 'Samay'. MP3 is a film that I wanted
to make first. It's the story of my own teen years. Many of the
incidents from my protagonist Ruslaan Mumtaz's life, including the way
he meets the girl, are from my own life in the Delhi Army School. For
that matter, all the hero's friends are based on guys I knew personally
in school."
What sets Grewal's love story apart is its tone.
"I'm
not saying that first love is the height of passion or that it decides
all future relationships for the protagonist. First love is as special
as a first film. I love 'Samay', and though 'MP3' contains scenes from
my own life, it was harder to make.
"I think 'Isht' would be tougher than both the films," said Grewal.
