Coinciding with the 60th anniversary of India's independence, a
mega event focusing primarily on Indian cinema will be organised
here next month.
The event called India Splendor will be held from August 10-15.
Besides films, it will also showcase Indian arts, business,
technology and spirituality, reported entertainment portal
variety.com.
The Indian extravaganza is being organised by the New Delhi-based
MCorp Global group in association with International Creative
Management (ICM) talent agency and the UCLA School of Theatre, Film
and Television.
"Our vision has been to bring all the facets of Indian culture,
including our booming film industry, to the US in jointly
celebrating this momentous mark in history," said Bhupendra Kumar
Modi, chairman of MCorp Global.
The idea behind the event is to make Indian culture more accessible
to US audiences. Prominent Hollywood-based non-resident Indian film
producer Ashok Amritraj has been chosen as the event's cultural
ambassador.
"Indian cinema is an important force, and we are pleased to help
lead an exchange of ideas and artistic expression between
filmmakers from Mumbai to Los Angeles," said ICM chairman and chief
executive officer Jeffrey Berg.
Many prominent Bollywood film stars are expected to attend the
event.
