 British film and television actor Dev Patel, who became popular after playing
the role of Jamal Malik in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, has cleared the
air for everyone, by announcing that he is not engaged to his longtime
girlfriend Freida Pinto.
The actor had to declare the fact as his mother got upset after
reading about
his engagement to Frieda. Dev had to explain to his mother that the
reports were
incorrect.
Patel said, “I had to say that nothing has happened, everything is
fine and I
am here just for shooting a movie.”
He added, “Sometimes my mom goes to work and is required to answer
why it has
been reported that Dev is engaged and has a wedding ring and she has to
explain
that this is not true.”
Dev has been dating Frieda since the time of the Slumdog Millionaire
in 2008,
when they met on the sets. On this, the 20 year old actor said, “I get
lots of
inspiration and support from Frieda. She is amazing as a friend.”
Well, if Dev also prefers to say ‘just friends’ like any other
celebrity,
then who knows what will be the future of this relation!
