Kangana's unique dance act in New York

After
doing atypical roles, Kangana Ranaut did the unthinkable at an awards
show in New York - she danced to the remix of songs picturised on her
male co-stars.
"I
danced to a re-mix of songs from my films 'Gangster - A Love Story',
'Woh Lamhe' and 'Metro'. Except that these are male numbers. I got them
re-recorded into a female voice and danced to them," Kangana told IANS.
Isn't she embarrassed to be dancing to songs originally filmed on Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja?
"Not
at all!" asserted Kangana. "Numbers like 'Kya yehi pyar hai' might not
be filmed on me. But they express my emotions as much as anybody else's
in these films. And who remembers whom 'Kanta laga' was originally
picturised on?"
Though this was Kangana's first visit to New
York, she was comfortable seeing the city on her own. "I love the feel
of strange cities. I can roam for hours on my own."
Apart from
Kangana, Bipasha Basu too danced at the Bollywood Movie Awards 2007 on
May 25. She jived on item numbers from "Omkara" as well as other hit
songs of the year.
"'Beedi' and 'Namak' in 'Omkara' made me
realise how much I enjoy filmy dances. Of course, I danced to my hit
numbers. But they wanted me to dance to hit songs of the year from
films that I didn't feature in. I didn't mind. Nowadays, I just love
the outflow of energy when I go on stage," said Bipasha.
Urmila Matondkar, who's the most seasoned performer of the trio, danced to her own songs too.
"I danced to a medley of my own songs including 'Bas Ek Pal'," said Urmila.
