Star Comes Down to the Ground is a heart
touching film prudently made for people of all walks of lives. The movie gained
harmony of heart by connecting each and every body of a family. I am confident,
the film must be achieved commercial success as well as it will receive enormous
praise. Definitely, Amir Khan with his debut gains massive scores as a genius director.
Famous actor Amir, is not the star in the movie, delight and cheerful eight
years old Darsheel Safary, who loves colours, fish, shiny things, dogs, spaceships
and kites and plays the vital role of Ishaan Awasti, is the glorious star of
the film.
Ishaan, a deprived minor, who sees a
different world, always getting into fights and always faring badly in school, while
his elder brother is a bright student, Ishaan has spent two years in the third
standard.
As a punishment, the frustrated father packs him off to a boarding school where
he continuously struggling with studies along with heart rendering separation. Unable
to deal with the running situation, Ishaan goes into a shell at his new school,
not only failing to show any improvement in his academics, but also no longer
inspired to paint. The truth came to the light when a teacher identifies him as
a dyslexic. Ishaan as a dyslexic has a learning disorder marked by impairment
of the ability to recognise and comprehend written words. But his internal
world is rich with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate, magical lands
filled with color and animated animals.
The situation turned turtle when a new
temporary art teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Amir Khan) joins the and becomes
popular among the students. He begins to notice that Ishaan is unhappy and a
non-contributor to activities in the class and begins to review Ishaan's past
work and discovers that all of his ‘failures' are actually reflects dyslexia.
The teacher visits Ishaan's parents and
asks to review more of his work during his day off. He is also stunned by the
sophistication of Ishaan's paintings. Nikumbh tells Ishaan's parents that
Ishaan is a bright child who processes information differently than the other
children in class. He describes dyslexia to them and clarifies that this is a
neurological condition which is not a sign of low intelligence. He also tells
them he can provide extra tutoring which will help Ishaan succeed. To support
this argument, Nikumbh highlights Ishaan's artistic ability as demonstrated by
his many paintings and creative works-of-art.
But his parents dint agreed with him and
rebuke for his interest.
After returns to the school, Nikumbh brings
up the topic of dyslexia
one day in class and offers a list of famous people who are
considered dyslexic: Albert Einstein, Leonardo
Da Vinci, Walt Disney, Agatha
Christie, Thomas Edison, Pablo
Picasso, and actor Abhishek Bachchan. As the students are leaving
the classroom Nikumbh asks Ishaan to stay back.
Afterwards, Nikumbh reveals that he has
experienced the same difficulties with dyslexia.
Next, Nikumbh conveys the same information
to the principal of the school and asks if he can act as a tutor for Ishaan.
After gaining the Principal's assent, Nikumbh takes it upon himself to develop
and improve Ishaan's reading and writing abilities.
Nikumbh then proceeds to teach Ishaan using
remedial techniques developed by specialists in the area of
dyslexia. Ishaan soon develops interest in language and mathematical skills and
his grades improve.
Soon after, the teacher organises an art competition
for staffs and students.Ishaan, with his strikingly creative style is declared
the winner, while his teacher, Nikumbh (who paints Ishaan's portrait) is
declared the runner up.
The parents become, speechless to see the
changes of Ishaan as he has improved in all of his subjects and has a
commendable grade in painting. His father breaks int tears upon seeing this
change and realizes his past mistakes. Before leaving for the holidays, Ishaan
runs to hug his teacher who jubilantly tosses him in the air.
Darsheel Safary, for an eight-year-old
gives off an excellent performance worthy of a standing ovation. This is one
bright lad who has understood the character very well. Everything about Ishaan
is perfect, from his body language, to the way he delivers his dialogues to the
expression in his eyes which shouts for help.
Amir brings a turn-a-round in Ishaan giving
an example of Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci and Thomas Alva Edision, all
great men, who suffered from the same malaise, the way is heartening.
The scene where Amir visits Ishaan's house and forces his father Nandakishore
Awasti (Vipin Sharma) to read letters written in Chinese on a toy box,
ridiculing him when he can't, is a clincher! Also, when the father visits his
boy in school and sees the improvement and learns that he is at fault is
gripping. He runs away as he can't face his child. The scene where Ishaan wins
the drawing competition and where he reluctantly comes ahead to receive his
prize in front of the whole school will leave you moist-eyed.
The background score and music by Shankar Eshan Loy and Shailendra Barve is
excellent. The lyrics, which go, "Aap ko malum hai na Maa...." is heart-rendering.
The bonding between Yohan Awasti (Sachet Engineer) with his younger brother has
been captured well by the director he also extracted excellent performances
from these two kids showing friendship between Ishaan and Rajan Damodaran
(Tanay Chheda). Tisca Chopra as Ishaan's mother is a revelation, so also is
Vipin Sharma. He portrays the behaviour every working father wears on his
sleeve.
All the parents who are always in competition looking for a winner should aware
seeing the film and all teachers should teach their students just a funny way.
Taare Zameen Par is not just a movie it is
a fabulous creation of a creator to opening our eyesight regarding the
children.
