Finally a true prкt-a-porter collection that was very
global and stylish. Raghavendra Rathore did not let his audience
down as he showcased his line on the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion
week ramp.
"My collection has been inspired by India. It's very
traditional, yet for a global audience. For the line I have altered
the daily wear clothes cleverly and in a stylish way. For instance,
instead of a regular dupatta I have teamed kurtis with waist
jackets, making them very contemporary," Rathore told IANS.
The palette of the collection showcased Saturday was dominated by
shades of yellow and gold with a few specks of black. Red, shades
of blue, metallic gray and pinks were also a part of it.
Kurtis teamed with capris and jackets, short pants and kurtas used
as dresses encompassed the women's line. Whereas men's line had
kurta's suits, shorts teamed with jackets, trousers with shirts,
suits and even lungis.
"I have designed the garments keeping in mind the future when
summers will be longer and winters will be for a shorter period of
time. Also, these outfits can be washed in washing machines easily
and are very comfortable to wear especially in summers.
"The outfits were heavily influenced by the traditional attire of
Rajasthan," he said.
Rajasthani embroidery work embellished the garments and Kohlapuri
sandals, sling bags, and hair accessories adorned the collection.
