The Roman look and abstract designs dominated the Wills
Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) ramp Friday evening as
designers Surily Goel and the duo of Gauri and Nainika rolled out
their collection.
With the background score of "Guns n Roses", models sashayed
down the ramp through cut outs of door frames, wearing a Roman look
complete with jute tie-up sandals and embellished headbands
resembling wreaths.
Surily's collection in georgette and jerseys offered shorts
jackets, baby doll dresses with boat necks, wrap dresses, tunics
teamed with blouses, kimono sleeve dresses with coined bikini and
halter twisted dress.
Priya Sachdev Chatwal, who walked the ramp for Surily, was draped
in a full length dress with white and silver embellishments.
"My collection was inspired by the Roman and Greek look. It was a
prкt collection, very cool and fun," Surily told IANS.
In case of Gauri and Nainika, the collection was inspired by
Wassily Kandinsky, the Rusian-born artist who used georgettes
extensively.
"We believe in a clean look with minimal accessories. What we did
in our collection was to put blocks of colour together to get the
desired effect," Gauri said.
The collection had voluminous, empire cut dresses, pencil dresses,
halter dresses with asymmetrical hemline, hound-tooth wrap dress,
trapeze dress and voluminous cubist pattern dress.
