‘Balika Vadhu’ has bagged the Best Drama Series (Fiction) award at
Chevrolet Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards which was
unfolded on Jan 8, 2010 at Chitrakoot Grounds, Andheri, Mumbai.
On this exhilarating moment Sunjoy Waddhwa, CMD, Sphere Origins
Multivision Pvt. Ltd. Said, “It's a great honour for us to receive the
Apsara Film and Producer’s Guild award which is a platform shared by
the talented personalities of our film fraternity. It feels great that
people recognize good and honest work which has a social message. I
thank Colors who believed in us and carried the show across the country
to a wonderful audience who could relate to a different kind of

The Chevrolet Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards is
the Guild's endeavor to honor excellence in cinema and television by
the stalwarts of the industry itself. Over the years, the Chevrolet
Apsara Awards has acknowledged talent, perseverance, innovation and
pure artistry. The night has seen over 30 awards being presented in
categories of films and television. The Television industry is
represented in the Best Non-Fiction Series, Best Drama Series
(Fiction), Best Director- Fiction, Best Actress and Best Actor in a
Drama Series.
Set in rural Rajasthan ‘Balika Vadhu’ traces the arduous journey of
child bride Anandi from brink of childhood to womanhood. ‘Balika Vadhu’
very sensitively portrays the plight of children who are unwittingly
forced into marriage in the name of tradition and have to bear the
repercussions for the rest of their lives. Balika Vadhu not only
propelled fortunes of the channel, but gave Sphere Origins a firm
recognition.
