'Mungaru Male' way ahead of other Kannada films

It has broken all Kannada box-office records and still continues to rake it in. "Mungaru Male" tops the box office list this week too.

The top five Kannada films are:

1. "Mungaru Male" - Though schools have reopened after the summer vacation, the film's collections have not dropped. As the film approaches its silver jubilee, analysts expect it to run for over a year in major centres.

2. "Duniya" - The film, with the Bangalore underworld as its backdrop, is attracting more and more family audiences. It will complete 100 days shortly. Vijay, the film's hero, and director Soori have become the industry's blue-eyed boys.

3. "Santha" - This is the only Kannada film in the past five months that has enjoyed a huge opening. If the present trend of collections continues, "Santha" is expected to recover the money invested in the first three weeks.

4. "Pallaki" - People have different opinions, but the collections have been steady. It is estimated that the producer and distributors recovered the money in the first three weeks. The film was made on a reasonable budget, but what has saved it is the charisma of its hero Prem.

5. "Arasu" - The film has already completed 100 days in many centres. It is still running in a few major centres and some B and C centres.
