Shankar Gets His 3 Idiots!

Shankar’s Tamil version of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots finally has a star cast in place. According to reports in the media, it is Vijay, Srikanth and Jiiva who are the lucky three South Indian actors to have been chosen by Shankar to work with him as his idiots. Shankar had earlier announced that he will remake the Hindi film 3 Idiots in Tamil and Telugu.

The original version of the film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani was a record breaker in terms of box office collections in the history of Bollywood cinema. Thus, it is expected that Shankar too, will face a lot of pressure to match up to the standards of the Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots. However, the director is not prepared to talk about the pressure as of yet. He is presently focusing on the best way to film the story in the Tamil version.

3 Idiots had Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan in the lead roles of the engineering students who each had their distinctive problems in life. To bring back on the big screen the antics that Rajkumar Hirani’s threesome have already made popular will definitely come as a challenge to Vijay, Srikanth and Jiiva. Work on the film with Shankar behind the camera will begin early next month. The release date has not been announced, but the South Indian audience is already looking forward to the 3 Idiots remake.
