Vintage Mohanlal makes 'Hello' a winner

Three new releases have made it to this list. Mohanlal starrer "Hello", director Lal Jose's "Arabikatha" and Dileep's "July 4" have had a good opening.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Hello": The Rafi-Mecartin director duo joins hands with Mohanlal for the first time to make a film that brings out the actor's best acting.

2. "Arabikatha": Director Lal Jose captures the travails of Malayalis working in the Middle East in the film, with a touch of humour scripted by Iqbal Kuttippuram.

3. "July 4": Dileep puts his lucky day as the title of his new film but the hackneyed plot makes it a lost cause.

4. "Vinodayathra": Sathyan Anthikkad's family entertainer starring Dileep and Meera Jasmine still manages to hold on to a place in this list.

5. "Chotta Mumbai": Rasheed Anwar's second film with Mohanlal in the lead may have got a mixed response from the critics but it refuses to go out of this list.
