'Chak De! India' gets tax exemption in Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh government Friday announced that the Shah Rukh
Khan blockbuster "Chak De! India" would be tax-free in the state
for six months. The commercial tax department's notification makes
the tax waiver effective from Sep 6.
The film, about a gritty women's hockey team that goes on to win
the world championships thanks to its coach, has set "high
standards in social, education and cultural sectors besides it has
promoted team spirit in sports and also plays a vital role in
women's empowerment", stated a government release.
It went on to state: "Its story is inspired to boost national
feelings."
The film that brings to reel life the story of a losing hockey team
and how a coach turns its destiny around has been declared tax-free
in several states, including Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan,
Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
