Very
few know that popular Delhi restaurant 'Baujee Ka Dhaba' is linked to
leading filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's family. And the good news
is that they have opened another outlet in memory of their father, who
founded the eatery.
Situated
in the midst of the Garden of Five Senses in south Delhi, the ambience
is completely rustic. The interiors are complete with a bullock cart,
hookah, charpoy (string cot) and a traditional swing.
The
first 'Baujee Ka Dhaba' outlet was started by Omprakah Mehra in Hauz
Khas that was later closed down. A new outlet was later opened in
Gurgaon.
"Baujee Ka Dhaba is a dream and an attempt by my
brother Rajan Mehra and his wife Anupama Mehra, to carry forward the
legacy of my dad, late Omprakash Mehra," Mehra told IANS.
The
interiors of the eatery, which opened Thursday, are done in earthy
shades and scenes drawn from the life of Hindu deity Lord Krishna adorn
the ceiling. The bar, interestingly, has been shaped like a village
well.
On the rural ambience of the place, Mehra said: "It
takes you back to your roots, which is the essence of every soul. If
the food is good, people revisit the place but the ambience plays a big
part as well."
Mehra, whose "Rang De Basanti" earned rave
reviews, is all set to shoot his next film "Delhi 6" in the capital in
a few weeks. But he refused to divulge the details about the movie.
