Rajneeti is one of the most awaited films of 2010. Prakash Jha’s film
on Indian politics has created quite a buzz in industry circles. It
recently kicked off its final campaign trail at a press conference at a
plush suburban hotel. The event saw a huge turnout of media members and
had the cast and crew of the film in attendance.
Prakash Jha, the
director-producer of the film welcomed the audience. “I’d like to
express my gratitude to the entire team, to UTV, Ronnie Screwwala, and
all those who have been involved with the making of the film. I have
done my best as a filmmaker and I’m happy with the way the film has
turned out. Everyone has worked with complete dedication. Rajneeti is
now complete and on its way to the Censor Board,” he says. The movie’s
official trailer was then screened.
Rajneeti boasts of an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal,
Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai and Katrina
Kaif. Prakash Jha himself has contested for the elections from a party
in Bihar. He brings his immense knowledge on politics to his mega
project. Ranbir Kapoor candidly stated, “I learnt a lot about politics
from Prakash Sir. Rajneeti was a great learning experience.” The team
will be traveling to colleges across the country to interact with the
youth about their take on politics. They will visit colleges in cities
like Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Ahemdabad and
Indore. The film is slated to release on June 4th. It sure looks like a
promising venture.
The event then moved on into the open house media interaction session
and a lot of interesting questions were thrown up. In a feisty mood,
media personnel questioned the intent behind the movie and the political
backdrop. They even took potshots at Katrina’s Hindi accent and
dubbing!
All in all, the event was a grand success, but now the anticipation
of the coming movie has gone up by miles!
