Finally, Imagine finds its new Devi

The long hunt for the new Devi is all over with Mumbai girl Dipika Samson being finalized to play the grown-up Lakshmi. Samson makes her TV debut with this Shakuntalam Telefilms' daily. Samson’s entry, all the more, puts an end to speculation over the show’s future.

Lakshmi grows into a beautiful young girl, around 21 years old, whose unadulterated innocence makes her look like a real goddess just like her name – Lakshmi. The poor girl has grown up believing that she is a Devi, but deep down in her heart she is like any other girl stepping into adulthood. Like all the other girls of her age, she, too, dreams of falling in love and getting married.

Deprived of education during childhood, Lakshmi grows up as an illiterate girl who has not had much interaction with the outside world and thinks that world is as pure as her heart is.
