The Highs & Lows Of Nupur In ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’

 Rati Pandey aka Nupur of ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’ fame seems to have
everything going for her at this point of time. The youth centric show
begun more than two years ago and is still going strong despite a few
hiccups in between. The outspoken girl Nupur is a character after
Rati’s own heart who joins the hip and happening Excel college crowd
after having transcended the barriers of the sleepy little town of
Morena which lies at the back of beyond. The coming together of
Mayank (Arjun Bijlani) and Nupur seems to have struck a chord with the
audience who raised a tremendous hue and cry following Nupur’s death in
the show. Consequently Nupur had to be brought back albeit with a memory
loss in order to keep the viewers happy. ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’ continues
to enjoy a good run despite having taken a hit in the popularity factor
even as the protagonists together with the newly introduced characters
continue to take the tale forward.
But what was it actually that
had prompted the creator to kill off one of the most promising character
of the show? Was it a lack of viewers or was it connected to reasons of
finance? Or did Rati Pandey, the person in question suddenly decide to
call it quits? There are a number of queries that keep surfacing in our
minds. Let us try and find out the most likely reason.
The No. 1 show on Indian TV - ‘Miley
Jab Hum Tum’ arrived like a whiff of fresh air with a youth centric
approach that was hard to beat. The viewers having grown tired of the
dragging Saas and Bahu sagas took to the new story line and the show
soon became Numero Uno among the current crop of TV serials enjoying a
huge fan following in the process. However, the enthusiasm showed signs
of flagging after the show had been on air for quite some time. Sunshine
Productions panicked and decided to bring in a host of fresh new faces
in order to revamp the show intent on regaining the No. 1 slot. The
move worked for a period of time with the TRPs showing a healthy boost.
Rati Pandey - The protagonist Nupur played by
Rati Pandey maintains that she had been given every opportunity of
showcasing her acting talents here. While all four of the lead
characters had been assured that their characters would not be chopped
off prematurely, Rati states that she had been informed of her
character’s death just before shooting for the accident scene. Surprised
by such a turn of events, Rati, nevertheless maintains that she wasn’t
shocked in the least. She emphasizes that she had been toying with the
idea of quitting herself and the creative decision was actually a relief
for her. But why was she so hell bent in moving out of the most popular
show? Well, according to her the character of Nupur had already been
established and every kind of emotion that a young girl can feel had
already been shown in MJHT leaving her with no option but to repeat
herself episode on episode.
Fan Reaction – With
the pretty and outspoken Nupur dying in a mishap, the immensely popular
show of ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’ had the option of introducing fresh new
faces, young people full of joie de vivre who could carry the show
forward. It was a mistake though! The creators certainly did not account
for the tremendous amount of enraged objections by Nupur’s fans. An
outpouring of letters, SMSes and e-mails flooded the channel’s office
each one expressing shock and dismay at seeing the end of Nupur. Rati
Pandey fans numbered an astounding 6661 and went up by the minute making
her one of the top rated female celebs ever to have graced the small
screen. Messages even went on to read ‘No Nupur! No MJHT!’ The channel
had absolutely no option except to beat a hasty retreat by bringing her
back.
Comeback- Nupur returned to MJHT as
Mayank’s wife and her fans are at peace again. But will the fans
continue to remain mesmerized with her histrionics ever after? Her
memory loss has kept everyone on tenterhooks and her fans keep asking
themselves whether it is for real or feigned. Mayank, Gunjan and Samrat
try to cope with her to the best of their abilities in the show which
seems to be overburdened with twists and turns at the moment. The link
that stretches back into the past connecting Dhruv with Nupur has been
finally revealed. Will she be able to hold the attention of her viewers
now that she is married and struggling to deal with the differences that
seem to have cropped up all of a sudden? Only time and TRP will tell !
