The music of Mani Ratnam’s film, Raavan, was launched on Saturday
night amidst much fanfare and performances by the film’s lead actor
Abhishek Bachchan and music director AR Rahman. Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, the lead actress of the film, was the
highlight of the event as she was the host to introduce the film, draped
in a cream colour saree with red embroidery.
‘Beera Beera’, one of the songs of the film, which was launched last
week as part of a trailer, is already being talked about a lot. The
music launch was attended by lyricist Gulzar and director Mani Ratnam.
Aishwarya recalled her experience of working in the film and revealed
that Mani Ratnam had given her an idea of his concept for Raavan three
years ago when she was working on his film, Guru.
She states that when she was preparing for the song ‘Nanna re' in
Guru, she had no idea that Mani was preparing a new character, Ragini
from Raavan, for her in mind.
She admits that she was impressed when Mani narrated Raavan to her.
She believes that Mani is unique because he draws the viewers into his
world through his narration. She expressed that she could relate to
Ragini as a character. She also added that it was the most challenging
role of her career.
She also spoke about the challenges of shooting in two different
languages constantly.
