Director
Yograj Bhat's romantic comedy "Mungaru Male" has garnered more than
Rs.350 million and is the number one movie of the fortnight.
The top five Kannada films are:
1.
"Mungaru Male" - The film has created a record in the Kannada film
industry having grossed more than Rs.350 million and will complete its
silver jubilee soon. It is a universal hit now with success reaching
foreign shores. It is also being released in cities like Pune and
Solapur in Maharashtra.
2. "Duniya" - Debutant director Soori's
film has recently completed a hundred-day run in more than 20 centres.
Now, its box office rating is getting stronger with female audiences
lapping up the shows. Vijay, who had done some bit roles earlier, was
for the first time introduced as the hero in "Duniya". The film is
expected to do a business of Rs.100 million.
3. "Santha" - Even
in its fourth week, the film is doing well. In spite of the
A-certificate the collections have been encouraging. The film is likely
to keep producers and distributors happy. After giving three
consecutive flops, Shivaraj Kumar has finally made a successful film.
4.
"Hudugaata" - Released June 8, the film had a huge opening which has
not come down even a bit. If the film continues to hold the same kind
of attention, then it is likely to become a super hit. The trade bodies
are already placing this film, starring current heartthrob Ganesh, in
the top of the list. The producer of the film has made money by selling
the distribution rights for an exorbitant price. As of now, it is in
safe territory for distributors also.
5. "Pallaki" - This
Prem-starrer started off well, but collections are dropping now.
However, the medium budget film has already made sufficient profits for
the producers. Box office collections are more than enough to keep
producers and distributors happy.
