Mammootty's 'Maayavi' rules Malayalam box office

Mammootty's "Maayavi" still rules the box office and is number one on this list of top five Malayalam films:

1. "Maayavi" - The Mammootty film directed by Shafi is the first real blockbuster of the year.

2. "The Speed Track" - The much-delayed Dileep film is getting its due at the box office and introduces a new director, Jayasurya, to Malayalam cinema.

3. "Detective" - Another debutant director, Jithu Joseph, gives a much-needed hit to actor Suresh Gopi with the film.

4. "Avan Chandiyude Makan" - Veteran director Thulasidas has roped in Prithviraj in this family entertainer scripted by Babu Janardhanan and succeeded.

5. "Inspector Garud" - The Dileep film has moved to B centres, but the movie is going strong enough there to find a place in the list.
