PVR Cinemas on expansion spree

Multiplex chain PVR cinemas will add over 200 screens across India, staggered over a period of three years from 2008-2010, a company official said.

"We will add 200 more screens to our present strength across India over a period of three years starting 2008," Ashish Shukla, Chief Executive Officer of PVR Ltd., told IANS.

With major players like Adlabs, Cinemax, Inox and Fame also on an expansion spree across the country, Shukla says PVR only intends to expand in select cities.

"Position wise, PVR is the biggest in India and we are certainly not into the screen game," he said.

Last year, PVR cinemas bagged the 'Retailer of the Year' award in entertainment category at the Images Retail Award-2006, a distinction it has won for three consecutive years.
